Our coaching staff would like to thank you as parents for the
outstanding work you have done in raising such dedicated and hard-working
young men/women. The players demonstrated much needed tenacity throughout
the tryout process.

An incredibly important facet of our program is getting wonderful kids
involved that have the desire to become great basketball players. The quality of
kids we build our team around is an essential element when creating a successful
team. These players are ambassadors of the community, and, most importantly,
their families.

We are looking at beginning a new chapter in Warriors Nation Basketball history, starting with good, solid, young players that have a yearning to
become something special, you as the parents of these great kids, should be
extremely proud.

The coaching staff is excited about the new season. We have been working
tirelessly to develop a strategy to make this a successful program. The motto this
year is “One Vision, Same Goal”! We hope to take basketball to another level this
season. Our desire for winning, however, will be extended beyond the basketball
court. This year a heavy emphasis on being quality individuals in the community
will also be stressed.

In order to reach our goals a supportive parental base is required. As the
season gets into full swing, the coaches hope that you, as parents, can help in the
following areas of importance:

  1. Providing healthy nutrition
  2. Encouraging good sleep habits
  3. Giving strong emotional support to your kids
  4. Demanding your child is at practice and playing hard
  5. Monitoring homework and grades
  6. Enforcing team rules
  7. Taking a “team” approach to measuring success
  8. Refraining from making negative comments about coaches or other players
which may affect your child’s attitude
  9. Alerting coaches to problems affecting your child
  10. Monitoring your child’s effort level and aggressiveness throughout a game
  11. Reminding your child that not every aspect of athletics is fun, but the
approach one takes to dealing with the negative aspects can be very positive
  12. Teaching your child that when issues arise within the team to notify and speak with the coach. This helps to teach them how to communicate through adversity

As a parent, I am fully aware of the desire to back your child in most adverse
situations. “Parent Goggles” tend to be thick, which may allow you to only see
your child and their own particular situation. To be quite honest, to be your child’s
advocate is your natural job as a parent. However, the items listed above will
allow the focus to be shared between every member of the Warriors Nation
Basketball community, by providing a full team mentality. These items are just
some of the many ways that you can help the team, and your child have a
successful season.

Thank you in advance for your help this upcoming season. Parents can truly
make the difference behind a successful year, regardless of the record. If we
share the same goals then the product that we put on the court will be one that
everyone will want to stake claim to: the community, you the parents, and
especially the players.
